ENYE Bilingual Interface

Project Context

The ENYE Magazine, formerly Dig en Español, was expanding from a Spanish-only publication to a fully bilingual platform. However, the legacy website lacked the structure and functionality to handle multilingual content effectively.

My work focused on modernizing the site’s infrastructure and improving accessibility by implementing bilingual routing, localized content management, and modern web interactions that made the site more intuitive for both editors and readers.

Technical Implementation

  • Developed a custom bilingual language toggle with JavaScript that allowed seamless switching between Spanish and English without reloading the page.
  • Configured dynamic routing and metadata for bilingual SEO indexing and search accuracy.
  • Used conditional rendering and CMS tags to ensure articles and navigation elements displayed correctly per language.
  • Integrated custom CSS to modernize layout, typography, and color usage for a cleaner, more responsive design.
  • Streamlined content workflows for editors to upload bilingual versions efficiently, reducing redundancy in content management.

Feature Highlights

While the design of the ENYE site has since evolved, many of the core bilingual and structural features I implemented remain active and continue to support its audience accessibility and editorial workflow.

  • Custom bilingual toggle linked to content management templates
  • Localized SEO metadata and alternate language tags
  • Optimized navigation and readability for both language audiences
  • Improved mobile responsiveness and content accessibility

Reflection

This project strengthened my understanding of building accessible, multilingual web systems within the constraints of CMS platforms. Working closely with editors and content creators helped me design practical, sustainable workflows that blended modern UX practices with editorial needs.

The experience highlighted the value of accessibility and localization as integral parts of inclusive web development.
